Meet at a coffee house or somewhere in person. This encourages everyone to start and stop writing with the timer. It's also easier to kick out those negative voices in your head when others are sitting right next to you doing the same thing. And if you forget your motion sickness wristbands, someone else will surely have an extra pair.

Yes, kids can play too. Make sure they want to and they have an adult along who can help.
